Title: Soul Man
Artist: Phil Meatchem
I’m sure every local break has at least one of these characters. Once a shredder, or maybe ex pro. Used to dominate on any given day with flair and authority that stood out amongst the other punters in the line up. Now ageing and well past his prime, he’s adapted to the longboard in order to keep his wave count up and compete against those that are younger and hungrier. Not as aggressive or fit as he once was, he’s content to flow with a soulfulness that still seems to stand out, displaying the natural connection he’s always had with the ocean.
